What is a Marriage and Family Therapist?

According to the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT), A “Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) are licensed mental health professionals who work with individuals; couples whether or not married; families of all types; and groups to cure or relieve mental, emotional, and relational concerns of all kinds.” For more information please visit, http://www.camft.org. 

What type of theoretical orientation do you work from?

I work from an eclectic perspective. However, I work primarily from a Family Systems, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral orientation. I find that working from these perspectives help me understand more about your cultural and personal believes and also as to how your experiences have influenced who you are today.

How much does a session cost?

Fees are based on a sliding scale and are determined by the individual’s financial situation. Please contact me for more information.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance.

How long is each therapy sessions?

Individual and couple sessions are generally 50 minutes long. Family sessions are usually 50 minutes long, but may be longer depending on the number of family members present Group sessions are an hour and a half long. 

How big are the groups?

Group sizes vary from 5-10 people. If you are interested in participating in group sessions, please contact me in order to find out if the group is still open and when it meets.

Do you offer any educational/group talks?

Yes, I always welcome the opportunity to speak to various groups about mental health related issues. I would be happy to visit a school/class, workplace, community gatherings, etc…

Such topics include, but not limited to:        

Anxiety/Stress Management        


Conflict (Relational and Sibling)        

Parenting Issues        


Substance Abuse/Dependency        

Eating Disorder/Body Dysmorphia
